Sebastian Vettel is a free agent and exploring his options for 2021. So what are his options after he departs Scuderia Ferrari at the end of the season:
- Red Bull Racing.
- Racing Point | Aston Martin Racing.
- Mercedes AMG Petronas.
Right now, the answer is very unclear because there is so many conversations taking place.
We feel that Red Bull will not go back on their promises to Verstappen and Albon. They want a dynamic young duo who can battle and be with the team for a long time to try and bag a World Championship. The number one is Verstappen and Albon is proving his worth.
The theory that is looking particularly likely that he could join Racing Point which will be next year Aston Martin Racing. With that said, what happens to Lance Stroll with Papa Stroll who owns the team and Sergio Perez who carries a lot of Mexican sponsorship and brings money to the team?
Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer is remaining tight lipped though has said to the media that there is no space for Vettel in 2021 at their team. Perez has a contract until 2022 and Stroll as well plus the fact his father owns the team. There is a fine line between firing your son and engaging Vettel as a four times World Champion who may or may not work with the car. The risk is substantial and the only likely change would be to have Perez walk or utilise a clause in his contract to then start negotiating elsewhere. With that said, he is a hot headed Mexican who holds his feet strong down in the ground to ensure he stays in the sport.
With that said, the goal is to win races and Aston Martin want to achieve that so do you engage Vettel who knows how to race, win and perform. Could he be such an integral part of the formula to succeed?
Flip a coin and put on your business hat. Who do you keep and who do you sign? Would you be game enough as Papa Stroll to remove your son and take the German World Champion on board.
Guess we will just have to wait!
