It is the news that came as a shock and also a reality. The team put out a statement that was clear and direct: “Haas F1 Team has elected to terminate, with immediate effect, the title partnership of Uralkali, and the driver contract of Nikita Mazepin.”
With the ongoing conflict in Ukraine with Russia, Haas appeared to make their statement in order to focus their shift on the upcoming Bahrain test and also round one of the 2022 season.
Whereas, for the former Haas driver Mazepin was not happy and made his statement via various social media platforms.
In addition to this, Formula 1 confirmed that it had terminated its contract with the Russian Grand Prix promoter. There will be no Russian Grand Prix in the near future.
The drivers who are in consideration to fill the shoes for Haas are:
- Pietro Fittipaldi.
- Antonio Giovinazzi.
- Oscar Piastri.
- Nico Hulkenberg.
We await to hear news on who the upcoming driver will be as time is running down to be prepared for the upcoming testing and first race of the season. We know the choice will be hard because of the talent pool on offer. Do you go purely for talent, pace and ability: Piastri. Do you go for experience: Hulkenberg. Do you invest in young talent with his family history in the sport or do you go for a driver who has the ability though did not stack up in 2021 with Alfa Romeo?
What are your thoughts on who should be chosen?
