Pat Fry is an experienced professional and has a new role with the Renault F1 Team to bring drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Esteban Ocon to the front of the sport. The Briton will take up the role of Technical Director (Chassis) and will commence bringing about the new developments from 5th February 2020. His previous resume history includes Bennetton, Manor, Ferrari and McLaren. The restructuring activity conducted by Renault is a step towards trying to find a Championship worthy car that can compete with Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren each and every race without worry. There is no way Ricciardo or Ocon will be satisfied with finishing in the middle of the pack, they both have personalities of wanting to be number one so it will be interesting to see how the team and drivers work to create a better quality machine that is reliable. In 2019, Ricciardo experienced lots of issues and was beyond frustrated. Fry will also be there to attend the launch of the new Renault F1 car on 12th February 2020. Cyril Abiteboul and executive director Marcin Budkowski will have their fingers crossed that this positive change is the answer to their questions that have been causing them grief for so long.

Marcin Budkowski, Renault Sport Racing UK Executive Director: “I am delighted to be able to work with Pat again. His arrival is yet another step as we build and improve our team structure. Pat’s experience, talent and determination will be additional assets as we continue our progress.”

The Australian superstar of Ricciardo whilst focusing on his Renault F1 career will also be brokering deals to try and secure a top driver with either Ferrari or Mercedes. We await news on how the contract negotiations will play out with rumours swirling around just like a shark does with a school of fish.
