The 2022 Saudi Arabian F1 Grand Prix over the past 24 hours was being debated as to whether or not it will go ahead after an attack was initiated by Yemeni rebels on an oil facility nearby to the Jeddah street circuit. The explosion could be seen in the distance and has prompted emergency meetings and talks with drivers, principals, team personnel and more. At this stage, it appears the race will go ahead regardless of varying opinions and questions over safety.
It is not as straightforward as some would think with a lot of money involved, television rights, Championship points, promotions and the list goes on. We have to respect the decisions of those involved and see how things pan out during the upcoming practice session and qualifying whilst being on edge watching on to ensure it all goes to plan and the event remains secure, safe and a happy environment for all to be heard. Opinions regarding this matter do count.
What we can say now, in breaking news (Saturday 26th March 2022) as confirmed on Twitter, the race will be going ahead as planned according to the FIA and F1.
